Golden Oakleaf Fernskin
Fernskins are found at ground level, hiding amongst the ferns, eating all the fungi and staring into the future. Slower and heavier built than their kin, the fernskins are sturdier, with excellent camouflage. While their diet is likely what leads to their unusual behaviour, their strangeness makes them excellent companions, if you can keep them focused.
While they may be slower, Fernskins have the same omnidirectional energy common to all squirrels. They sit with their head up, their large eyes checking every possible angle of attack, timing their movements with the ferns around them.
In the autumn their coats turn from the vibrant greens to
glistening golds and copper, with their tails taking on the look of the leaf strewn woodland floor, and their ferns shifting to deep amber.
